Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”
― Theodore Roosevelt“Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life.” ― Jerzy Gregorek
This TEN year natural healing journey, from September 2012 until now, has taught me a lot about mySELF. A lot about my resolve, willpower, determination, perseverance, hard work and what I am truly capable of. I am now reaching my potential and making it kinetic. In other words, I always take action to make things happen for myself, without hesitation.
It has also taught me about fear, anger, doubt, pain and stress and how they really work in the human mind and body.
The most important lesson this Psoriasis healing journey has taught me is that PRACTICE leads to BELIEF which builds FAITH.
1. Practice – “practice makes perfect”. Boy, is that ever true! When I was playing basketball as a youngster, my coach hammered that into me. One other adage I took from sports is: “get lost in the process”, which I take as meaning, the preparation, and the means to the end, the reason we obtain victories in our life, and we must embrace that entire process.
Sure, at the finish line, it is the sweetest feeling, but during the race, it can be a bitter taste. I have learned to embrace my practice, and realize that it is the foundation to everything in my life. Healing Psoriasis has given me an opportunity to seek my true potential, purpose and passion in life. I am finding solace and growth in those lessons, way before I’m enjoying the victory, which will be clear skin and no pain.
Without my practice, I wouldn’t have learned of the natural solutions, I wouldn’t be applying mySELF, and I wouldn’t be accountable and responsible to my body, health and vitality. Through my practice, I am healing, and more importantly, growing as a person. My body needs fuel and it needs me, and it is a miraculous machine.
Putting in the work is where all victories come from. The victory is experience and wisdom from application. On this special holiday in my country, where we celebrate Labor Day, I want to emphasize that practicing is the only way to drive results. In this modern culture, where we give away our choices to professionals that charge huge sums of money and we end up waiting so long to see them, has resulted in the essence of a self-built practice fading away. I want to clearly bring it back to the forefront.
I Value my intellect, I Value my efforts, and I get to WORK on mySELF.
2. Belief – This is only obtained through practice. Belief is not a gift. It isn’t random, and it doesn’t fall off of a tree. My belief comes from my Practice. Like we practice our faith, like doctors maintain their practice, and like athletes practice their sport; to be the best, to win victories, to believe in myself, ONLY comes from working hard each day, every day, over and over again, for days, into months, and into years, without question.
The less I question myself, the less I doubt myself, and the less I doubt myself, the less I fear, and the less I fear, the less stress I create in my mind, which ruins my body. Now, my body comes first, my body does not concern itself with doubt or fear, it only absorbs stress from the mind. The body only needs fuel and it needs to rely on and trust in me. As that trust grows, my body will go deeper into healing, my job is to FUEL and ENDURE.
Minds are important, complex and brilliant, but this works both ways, in support and in detriment. The mind must support the body at ALL times, and be the driving force of my practice. This process, the process I am lost in, drives a strong-building belief, that no ONE or THING can deter me from. This is my life’s work, I have my own natural healing practice and I BELIEVE IN MYSELF.
“Do or do not, there is no try.” – Yoda.
3. Faith – When this beautiful realization starts to take place, that I CAN heal, I no longer “try”, I just “DO”. When results start to come, that is when FAITH starts to build. I do whatever it takes every day, while questioning myself less, and seeking answers more. There is always a sustainable solution around every corner, if we just take a peek. My mentality and lifestyle have shifted entirely from being a victim with no cure, to being a warrior that IS THE CURE.
Faith will cure us. Through a growing Faith, which comes from belief in ourselves, community and HARD WORK together, will we be the masters of our own health and vitality.
A Warrior walks his own path and builds his own practice.
Research, ask questions, join groups, find fellow warriors, find a naturopath, find a mentor, find those that are walking the same path as you and walk with them, hand in hand. I emphasize, WALK, not just TALK. Take an action for every comment, and apply yourself as you discuss with others.
The doubters, the skeptics, they will come, and they will talk, and say many words. The warrior walks, and practices everyday, building belief and eventually faith in self. A faith that is driven on a simple concept. “You’re The Cure.”
What do I mean by that? That I can change my lifestyle, my diet, make really HARD choices, and sacrifice anything to be the master of my destiny and be fear, doubt and pain free, while at the same time, mastering stress.
The “cure”, is the person I am becoming; an empowered, inspired and limitless human being that can then help others do the same. Clearing my skin? Well, that’s just one notch on my belt. I am aware now, that ALL of my body must heal, from the inside, and that the skin is just a sign that my body needs my help to do it.
Does this happen overnight? No, of course not, but let us reminisce on the quote that I started with on this fine Labor Day…
“Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty…” – Is removing your Psoriasis from your body and removing the pain in your life, without drugs or creams worth having? Just know that you will need to put in constant EFFORT, you will experience healing PAIN and you will go through immense DIFFICULTY to reach your powerful Warrior plateau.
The beauty of it all, will be the person you become. I am still going through pain, and putting in more effort than I ever have, and experiencing incredible difficulty to do this, but the difference now, (as to when I started), is that I now believe in myself that I CAN do this. I have faith in myself that I am winning and that ONLY comes from my practice.
So start your practice today, and don’t ever STOP, don’t ever QUIT, don’t let fear, doubt or pain stop you.
Happy Labor Day, now…..Get to work.
